Post #31: National Cookie Day

Sunday is "National Cookie Day." Create a new type of cookie. What are the ingredients? What is its name? How would you promote the sale of your cookie? Be sure to include a picture or a drawing of your new cookie using Google Draw. When you are done with your blog, go to Typing.com and complete the lesson titled "Period and Comma". After the typing lesson, go to Google Classroom and begin today's Scratch assignment. I will be back in the classroom around 8:30... Be good for Ms. Smith!

Today is Cyber Monday!   Cyber Monday  is a marketing term for the Monday after the  Thanksgiving  holiday in the  United States . The term "Cyber Monday" was created by marketing companies to persuade people to  shop online . The term was coined by  Ellen Davis and and made its debut on November 28, 2005 in a Shop.org press release entitled "'Cyber Monday Quickly Becoming One of the Biggest Online Shopping Days of the Year". Today I want you go out to your favorite shopping website and find a Cyber Monday bargain.  Describe the item and post a picture of it on your post. Is the item something you want or is it something you want to buy for someone else. When you are finished with your post, go out to 5 other blogs and leave comments, then go to Typing Web and complete the lesson titled  " O, B, and A Keys "

Today I want you to describe your idea of a perfect Thanksgiving.  Where would you spend it? Who would be with you?  What would you do?  Would you eat traditional Thanksgiving food or something more modern? Describe for me your perfect Thanksgiving day.  Today is MAKE-UP day! It's college week at Alta Sierra! Where do you want to go to college? Today I want you to research THREE colleges (you are interested in attending) using THIS WEBSITE . Type in the name of the colleges, on the left side of the page, then click on the "Rankings" "General Info" "Student Body" and "Admissions" tabs and read the information in each section.  Copy and paste this table into your blog post and fill it out using the tools on the webpage. Post #27: Turkey Tweets

Pretend that you are a turkey who has a Twitter account and loves to tweet. Write 5 tweets to your followers about your feelings on Thanksgiving. Remember Twitter is 140 character or less.  Try something new this year. #ThanksgivingHam When you are finished with your blog go out to other student blogs and check out their Turkey Tweets.  Finally, go to Typing.com and take a  5 min. Typing Test .

Listening to rousing speeches that honor the military is a frequent occurrence on Veteran's Day. What do you think are some of the important elements of a Veteran's  Day speech? Who would be a good candidate to make such a speech and why? When you finish your post, click  HERE  to take a Veteran's Day Quiz.  Take a screen shot of your quiz results and add it to today's blog post. (I will show the class how to do this). You may not realize it, but the first Tuesday in November is always election day in the United States. In 5-6 more years you will be eligible to vote in your first election.  Today I want you to answer a few questions about the election process... 1) Why do we hold elections? 2) What would America be like without a voting system? 3) Why is it important for people vote in elections?  4) The minimum voting age is 18 in the U.S.  Do you think there should be a minimum age to vote? After you have completed your blog go to Typing Web and complete the lessons through "Beginner Review 1". You will have a Pixlr assignment today.
